Upcoming ACCESS Information Sessions and Business Plan Clinics 

Come learn about how to apply for a microloan - and/or bring your business plan for review and feedback from ACCESS staff and volunteers. Learn about current and former ACCESS clients and their business ventures from current clients. Potential clients, potential volunteers, and all others interested in ACCESS's small business loan program are welcome to attend. Central - March 6th, 1775 Danforth Avenue, ACCESS Community Capital Fund is holding a Small Business Loan Information Session and Business Plan Clinic from 6:30-8:00 pm. Past sessions have included: January 24th & Febuary 13th.

Black Creek- Febuary: 6th, 27th, March: 5th, 19th, April: 2nd, 16th, & May: 7th, 28th. York University-TD Community Engagement Centre, Yorkgate Mall, Suite 232 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. These dates are all Mondays.

ACCESS, Enterprise Toronto, and the Thorncliffe Neighborhood Office are partnering to bring a free business seminar series to Thorncliffe Park residents and all other individuals who are interested in entrepreneurship, starting a business, market research, and/or import - export specific businesses.

February 16th 1-3 pm - Business Planning Seminar

Learn how to write a Business Plan, why you need a business plan and what it means to your business. This seminar will motivate you to put pen and ideas to paper and to start writing and doing. February 23rd 1-3 pm - Canadian Market Research

The seminar will focus on an introduction to Canadian Market Research techniques and resources and learning cost-effective strategies to gather the necessary information needed to make sound business decisions. - Maggie Weaver

March 1st 1-3pm  - First Steps in Importing

This seminar covers the regulatory and business issues associated with importing into Canada: Regulations of the Export & Import Controls Bureau and other government departments; Sourcing (finding a supplier); Financial and contract issues including Incoterms, customs tariffs, methods of payment; Logistics and other partners; Customs documentation and clearance. March 8th 1-3 pm - First Steps in Exporting

This seminar covers the information sources available to the potential exporter; key websites, export diagnostic tools, preliminary market research, and sample export plans. Practical aspects such as paperwork and legal requirements are explained, and the exporter support programs from various levels of government are described. A comprehensive handout provides full details and URLs for all programs and resources. - Maggie Weaver
